First off, we have the story which has the Stoneman family finds its friendship with the Camerons affected by the Civil War, both fighting in opposite armies. The development of the war in their lives plays through to Lincoln's assassination and the birth of the Ku Klux Klan. I thought the story
was very interesting because of the messages it was trying to bring across even if they were controversial but still should be viewed by people.
Next, we have the characters which overall, I thought were mixed in bringing across the characters they needed to portray because of the nature of the story and the setting for it.
As for the film's visuals I thought, I thought the
cinematography was very interesting especially how the colour tints are used to convey the needed emotions of the characters. Moving onto the tone of the film which wasn't afraid of hiding what happened and the viewpoints it wanted to show. I thought the soundtrack of the film was very good with the way it complemented the visuals and the emotions being brought across on screen.
I give The Birth Of A Nation a score of 5/10
