The Outlaw Josey Wales

For the twenty-fourth film of the month we have The Outlaw Josey Wales

First off, we have the story which has a Missouri farmer joins a Confederate guerrilla unit and winds up on the run from the Union soldiers who murdered his family. I thought the story was very entertaining with a great underlying theme and that had some thrilling moments throughout the run-time.

Next, we have the characters which overall, I thought in terms of the titular character of Josey Wales was fantastic and who had some deep resentment in him because of his past and it carries him till the very end of the film.

As for the film's visuals I thought the film looked great managing to show the large areas of the desert in particular with some long shots to capture the vast landscape on show. The cinematography in terms of lighting and camerawork was also great to look at throughout the film. Now we have the action which I thought was entertaining seeing Josey take down all his opponents when needed. Moving onto the tone of the film which had the high stakes and intensity as well as the sense of adventure needed to make it entertaining. I thought the soundtrack of the film was great as it had lots of tracks that fit the theme and genre the film went for as well as capture the emotions that were needed.

Overall, I thought this film was a very interesting one because of the way it portrayed the genre but none the less it was very entertaining especially as it was helmed by Clint Eastwood who knows all about the Western genre.

I give The Outlaw Josey Wales a score of 8/10
