The Evil Dead

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Evil_Dead#/media/File:Evil_dead_ver1.jpg

For the final film of the month we have The Evil Dead

First off, we have the story which has five friends travel to a cabin in the woods, where they unknowingly release flesh-possessing demons. I thought the story was very entertaining which was surprising because the horror genre isn't usually for me.

Next, we have the characters which overall, I thought were in terms of acting - pretty good but most of the characters were pretty forgettable besides Ash played by Bruce Campbell who stood out the most.

As for the film's visuals I thought were very good and there were some clever uses of the camera and lighting throughout to give the horror feel and make some of the scenes harder to watch. Moving onto the tone of the film which I found to be more creepy than horrific messed up things that were going on that were experienced by the characters. I thought the soundtrack of the film which added to the dark and eerie atmosphere of the film and all of the weird events that happened over the course of the film.

Overall, I thought this film was a surprising but enjoyable horror film that hit all the right notes for me and I was really creeped out by the end of it however I am still very cautious of them before seeking them out.

I give The Evil Dead a score of 8/10

For the penultimate film of the month we have The Master

First off, we have the story which has a Naval veteran arrives home from war unsettled and uncertain of his future - until he is tantalised by The Cause and its charismatic leader. I thought the story was very entertaining and was entranced by the subject matter.

Next, we have the characters which overall, I thought were excellent and both main performances were captivating and their chemistry with one another carried the plot very well.

As for the film's visuals I thought they were impeccable both in terms of it's cinematography and the way the camera was moved and framed to give the film it's own style and feel that I really enjoyed. Moving onto the tone of the film which was one of the best parts about it as throughout the course of the film there was a heavy uneasiness casting a shadow over everything. I thought the soundtrack of the film was very interesting as it added a mystery and a kind of chilling atmosphere to film because of the subject matter it was focusing on.

Overall, I thought this film was an excellent film that I was looking forward to seeing before hand and it reached my expectations with ease with it's entrancing story and main leads that give the film it's depth and one film I would watch again.

I give The Master a score of 9/10

The relationship between the two main leads felt true and you could see the chemistry between the two building over the film's run-time.

As for the film's visuals I thought were another one of the best parts about the film with the way the cinematography was used to give it a cool look but also the camera positioning and movement were excellently used. The setting of the film really worked to build the world and characters around them. Moving onto the tone of the film which managed to get a balance of weird and quirky humour and some serious and dramatic aspects to make it entertaining to watch. I thought the soundtrack of the film was very interesting and used tracks that gave it a different sound to most films out there but familiar to Wes Anderson films.

Overall, I thought this film was an excellent and enjoyable from start to finish with a fun and unique story with characters that you cared for and visuals that made it a sight to behold and I look forward to seeing more Wes Anderson films

For the nineteenth film of the month we have It Came From Beneath The Sea

First off, we have the story which has a giant, radioactive octopus rise from the Philippine Trench to terrorise the North American Pacific Coast. I thought the story was very entertaining especially with the creature scenes.

Next, we have the characters which overall, I thought were, for a film like this with a mysterious creature roaming the seas best suited for the film with scientists who research it and the army as they try to put an end to it's terror.

As for the film's visuals I thought the film looked very good especially the animation on the creature which for the time both suited the film and looked convincing to add to the tension felt throughout. Now we have the action which in terms of the attacks by the creature was thrilling and intense from the start to the end of the film. Moving onto the tone of the film which had some great suspense and true science fiction with the giant mysterious creature attacking civilisation and the stakes got higher. I thought the soundtrack of the film which added to the film very well especially for the attacks by the creature.

For the eighteenth film of the month we have Free Fire

First off, we have the story which has a meeting in a deserted warehouse between two gangs turn into a shootout and a game of survival. I thought the story was entertaining in a lot of sequences especially when everything starts to go wrong for everyone.

Next, we have the characters which overall, I thought for the most part were pretty good with the acting overall standing out to make it more entertaining with the delivery of the script but some of the characters themselves didn't work for me.

As for the film's visuals I thought it was very good looking in terms of it's cinematography and the way the action was done was very unique to make it seem it was all done handheld and the one location setting worked well with this type of film. Now we have the action which for the most part was entertaining although you have to keep checks on who fires who and who is on each side so you don't get confused throughout. Moving onto the tone of the film which managed to mix comedy and action pretty well and some the comedy worked and some if it didn't. I thought the soundtrack of the film suited the setting and style the film was going for.

As for the film's visuals I thought they were very consistent throughout to make a very nice looking crime film with a hint of noir. Moving onto the tone of the film which captured the genres these films have been using from the start: mystery, crime and thriller which it has become easy to do. I thought the soundtrack of the film was ok enough to work with the story.

Overall, I thought this film was for the final of the fourteen films with Rathbone and Bruce in as the iconic duo was a great send off with an intriguing story with elements from the past films that make it an enjoyable final film for them in the series.

For the third film of the month we have Sherlock Holmes And The Voice Of Terror

First off, we have the story which has Sherlock Holmes and his devoted assistant, Dr. Watson are summoned by British intelligence to find the source of the mysterious "Voice of Terror." I thought the story was very entertaining and having it take place during WW2 then Victorian London was a fresh setting for the characters.

Next, we have the characters which overall, I thought were great in this film even though the setting had changed Holmes and Watson were their usual best with Rathbone stealing the show as he does as Sherlock with the rest of the cast filling out the other roles well enough.

As for the film's visuals I thought had a nice look to it and continues to create a film-noir atmosphere with it's lighting and and shadows as well as the editing which was at it's best in this film with the fast paced story. Moving onto the tone of the film which kept the pace fast as to raise the stakes of the entire film which were higher than any of the previous two films. I thought the soundtrack of the film was good and suited the type of film it wanted to be presented as.
