Terror By Night

For the thirteenth film of the month we have Terror By Night

First off, we have the story which has the fabled Star of Rhodesia diamond, stolen on a London to Edinburgh train and the son of its owner is murdered, Sherlock Holmes must discover which of his suspicious fellow passengers is responsible. I thought the story was very entertaining and the one location setting worked very well for this film.

Next, we have the characters which overall, I thought were very good in this from the main players of Holmes, Watson and Lestrade to even the secondary characters who could have been responsible and all played their roles well.

As for the film's visuals I thought it looked great especially all of the inside sets to make it seem like it was a train and claustrophobic atmosphere was very prevalent to add to the mystery. Moving onto the tone of the film which managed to mix mystery and film-noir to make and thrilling ride. I thought the soundtrack of the film when used did good at what it was supposed to do.

Overall, I thought this film was a great film as the penultimate one of all the Basil Rathbone Sherlock Holmes films and is definitely one of his best ones with a entertaining story and characters that make it work.

I give Terror By Night a score of 9/10
