Downfall

For the thirty-first film of the month we have Downfall

First off, we have the story which has Traudl Junge, the final secretary for Adolf Hitler, tells of the Nazi dictator's final days in his Berlin bunker at the end of WWII. I thought the story was very interesting by focusing on a character in a way that defies what he is usually shown as.

Next, we have the characters which overall, I thought were all well acted especially Bruno Ganz as Adolf Hitler which being a difficult character to portray showed how good an actor he is by showing certain emotions and how broken and delusional he becomes by the end.

As for the film's visuals I thought the cinematography throughout was great in terms of production design to make sure the setting was recreated as best as possible for immersion. Moving onto the tone of the film which didn't waver in showing the dark times of the war in terms of the drama. I thought the soundtrack of the film added a lot to the film in terms of emotion.

Overall, I thought this film was well researched as well as feeling realistic as possible that shined a light on a period of time during World War 2 which because of the way they portrayed it was a brave thing to do.

I give Downfall a score of 8/10
