For the penultimate film of the month we have The Treasure of the Sierra Madre
First off, we have the story which has Fred Dobbs and Bob Curtin, two Americans searching for work in Mexico, convince an old prospector to help them mine for gold in the Sierra Madre Mountains. I thought the story
was very entertaining from start to finish and felt quiker than it's run-time of 2 hours.
Next, we have the characters which overall, I thought were all very well acted and added something to the story but the standout actor was Humphrey Bogart as Dobbs and how his character changes over the course of the film and how he portrayed that with his facial expressions.
As for the film's visuals I thought the cinematography throughout was masterful in terms of the lighting and shadows used during the night scenes. The location footage was also very good and it fleshed out where they were. Moving onto the tone of the film which did a good job at keeping the dramatic moments intense as well making you wonder how it would end. I thought the soundtrack of the film when used was added to the film and suited the scenes when needed.
Overall, I thought this film was an interesting adventure film with a compelling concept of greed and what that can do to people and from start to finish it keeps you hooked with both drama and some comedy to make it enjoyable.
I give The Treasure of the Sierra Madre a score of 10/10
