First off, we have the story which has a national manhunt is ordered for a rebellious kid and his foster uncle who go missing in the wild New Zealand bush. I thought the story
was very enjoyable and was heartfelt and the characters brought it to life.
Next, we have the characters which overall, I thought were fantastic in terms of acting and the chemistry together between Hec and Ricky was one of the best aspects as their relationship changes over the course of the story.
As for the film's visuals I thought the cinematography throughout was phenomenal with the landscape shots of the setting as well traversing through wilderness immersed you into where they were. Even the editing of this film worked well it's long sequences and slow buildups. Moving onto the tone of the film which had some interesting use of comedy as well as some hitting drama that come together nicely. I thought the soundtrack of the film gave the backing of the film some life and accompanied the setting.
I give Hunt For The Wilderpeople a score of 8/10
