Dunkirk

For the fourth film of the month we have Dunkirk

First off, we have the story which has allied soldiers from Belgium, the British Empire, and France are surrounded by the German Army, and evacuated during a fierce battle in World War II. I thought the story was gripping and emotional and the way the film uses the moments to tell the story and less about the dialogue was very interesting.

Next, we have the characters which overall, I thought were all well acted and you cared for them and wanted them to survive the evacuation attempts.

As for the film's visuals I thought the cinematography throughout was gripping and well executed in terms of camerawork and lighting to make the situation as real as possible so you feel in the moment. Moving onto the tone of the film which built up the suspense and tension very well and made you care for the characters when things got desperate. I thought the soundtrack of the film puts you into the moment from the use of it's tracks as well as the sound effects.

Overall, I thought this film was breathtaking and impactful seeing the effort put in by everyone during the evacuation and seeing the struggles was emotional and how Christopher Nolan portrayed that shows why he is one of the greats of this generation.

I give Dunkirk a score of 10/10
