We now have Star Wars: The Last Jedi
First off, we have the story which has Rey undergoing her training with Luke Skywalker while the Resistance continues it's fight against the First Order. I thought the story was enjoyable with some entertaining scenes, however it suffered because of the B plot with Finn and Rose.
Next, we have the characters which overall, I thought were good for the most part and the acting also brought out some of the characters with the standouts being Rey and Kylo with their conflict. However someone like Luke was handled weirdly but did shine in some parts of the film.
Now we have the action which was done really well especially the lightsaber and space flights with some visuals that brought out the action well and you could tell what was going on throughout the action. As for the visuals I thought the film had some really good cinematography with sweeping shots of some of the locations to the lighting in the really intense scenes that added to the tone of the film. Moving onto the tone of the film which felt very familiar of past films which was a good thing but trying to go for something new could have added to the feel of the movie and make it much more unique. I thought the soundtrack of the film which was very indicative of the franchise with swelling tracks both familiar and new that capture the wonder and darkness of the film.
Overall, I thought this film was very enjoyable and as the next film in the trilogy it served it's purpose and advanced the story. The characters, visuals and action rounded off the film and one I would watch again.
I give Star Wars: The Last Jedi a score of 7/10
