Leon: The Professional

For the next film we have Leon: The Professional

First off, we have the story which has an assassin taking in a young girl named Mathilda after her parents were killed by a corrupt agent and decides to make her his protege. I thought the story was very entertaining and I was hooked all the way through.

Next, we have the characters which overall, I thought were very entertaining and compelling and the relationship between Leon and Mathilda was fun to watch as she learns from him how to do the job he does Their acting makes the characters feel genuine and you could sympathise with them. The villain of the film played by Gary Oldman was crazy, threatening but fun to watch his actions.

Now we have the action which very violent but well directed each time there was an action sequence as you could see what was going on and not get confused. As for the visuals I thought the film had some great cinematography such as the lighting and camera choices. However, another thing that stood out was the costume design, especially with the main two characters as their costumes were polar opposites of each other. Moving onto the tone of the film which for a very serious film and dark but at points managed to get a bit of comedy in which was funny when needed and lightened the mood. I thought the soundtrack of the film was very good and it had a range of track that suited it with a lot of French inspiration.

Overall, I thought this film was well put together film and I had a great time watching it with some strong characters, action that was thrilling which makes this one film I will definitely go back to.

I give Leon: The Professional a score of 9/10
