I decided to watch The Spy Who Loved Me

First off we have the story which has Bond looking into the disappearances of two nuclear submarines with help from Agent Triple X. He must also face off against Stromberg and henchman Jaws. Overall I thought was a very entertaining one. Stromberg's plan was very interesting one and again fits the story of a Bond film very well and the third act was the best part of the film.

Next we have the characters which overall I thought were good in this. Bond was back on form after a dodgy turn in the last film. The other character of Triple X was also a standout and the relationship with Bond was interesting to see develop through the film. The villain for this movie - Stromberg was an ok villain but was performed well.

Now we have the action which I thought was great. The chase sequence involving the Lotus was one of the best parts of the film with different aspects used such as cars and a helicopter chasing Bond along with the getaway with the Lotus becoming a submarine. The underwater action looked good in this film compared to Thunderball's underwater action. Finally one of the last sequence at the end involving the crews of the British, American and Russian submarine crews as they escape the tanker was done well and the inside of the tanker looked very good in terms of set and scale. As for the visuals which I have many times, in terms of location footage looked great as always. In terms of visuals for the stunts such as the Lotus Esprit submarine car was cool, the chase involving the Lotus before hand was a standout scene with great camerawork. The hideout of Atlantis was also a uniquely designed base that fit the film well. Moving onto the tone of the movie which did a good job at making sure it felt like a spy film with the usual aspects of action chases and a villain. I thought the soundtrack of the film was very good and worked for the film. The main theme of the movie was a standout track and is one of my favourite from the James Bond franchise. Another standout track that was a favourite of mine was called Bond 77.

Overall I thought this film was very enjoyable with all the aspects working well to make a great James Bond film that is one of my favourites.

I give The Spy Who Loved Me a score of 8/10
