I decided to watch The Living Daylights
First off we have the story which has James Bond having to aid the defection of KGB agent General Georgi Koskov, however things may not be as they seem and Koskov may be working with someone else and Bond must stop their plan with the aid of Koskov's girlfriend Kara. I thought the story was enjoyable with some great moments and for an introduction to a new Bond it worked well.
Next we have the characters which overall I thought were mixed with Timothy Dalton as Bond being on form, giving a great performance and gave a Bond a gritty and straight characteristic. The main female lead however was less than impressive and couldn't get behind her character. villain of the film Brad Whitaker was very generic for me and couldn't care for him as a villain.
Now we have the action which was well done with the first action scene used really well as the new Bond's first moments. The was also the chase scene when Bond has to cross the border to Austria, this was done well because of the use of the gadgets in Bond's car and how he used them. As for the visuals I thought the film was shot great especially the action scenes with the mountain chase being a standout as the camerawork stood out in that scene to show everything off in detail. Also the action scenes in Afghanistan were good as well. In terms of the location footage for the film that was also done well. Moving onto the tone of the movie which was good for a Bond film as it hit most of the points you would expect to have in such as film. I thought the soundtrack of the film worked for this film with the main theme being a standout track.
Overall I thought this film was one of the better Bond films I have seen out of the bunch and for Timothy Dalton's first of his two films didn't disappoint and would be one I would go back to.
I give The Living Daylights a score of 7/10
