GoldenEye

I decided to watch GoldenEye

First off we have the story which has Bond having to stop an agent that has gone rogue that plans to use a satellite against London. I thought the story was very entertaining and fast paced that was gripping and never boring at any point.

Next we have the characters which overall I thought were great. Pierce Brosnan as the new 007 was great choice and shows it in the film with his style and charisma. The new M played by Judi Dench was a refreshing casting and gave a better performance than the last M actor Robert Brown from the later Moore films and both Dalton films with her straight and cold performance. The villains of the film were intimidating and well acted with the pick of the bunch being Alec Trevelyan played by Sean Bean because of his personality and mindset.

Now we have the action which was great with the standout set piece being the tank chase which was very entertaining as well as the dam scenes at the beginning of the film. The stunts were also a highlight with the dam jump being the main one. As for the visuals I thought the film was shot very well and the location footage looked really good as ever for a Bond film. The action as well was done well with the usage of camera angles and editing helping out. Moving onto the tone of the film which was set right from the start and was one of the good things from this film. I thought the soundtrack of the film was good and fit this era of Bond film very well when this would have came out. The main theme of the film is one of the best out out of the lot but not my favourite.

Overall I thought this film was entertaining with a great story and characters that drove the move and it is one of the very best Bond films as well as a new Bond actor's first film that I would definitely go back to and is also my favourite Bond film.

I give GoldenEye a score of 9/10
